About Hominy Valley Photography
As a child growing up in the Bronx, New York, I helped my father with his work in the printing business. This is where I learned what I know about how colors, black and white blend and come together to catch the eye. After high school, I served as a Combat Navy Corpsman with the United States Marine Corps. During that time I was trained to focus; to find the detail in a scene that might pass by the eye of a casual observer. It wasn't until several years later, as a stone mason, that I realized I was putting these skills to use creatively. One year, I received a good quality camera for Christmas. Living in Western North Carolina, nestled between the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains, I found the perfect opportunity to hone my skills and enjoy my hobby. I brought that camera on every hike and road trip taken, with the inspiration of Ansel Adams ever-present in the back of my mind. As Facebook came to the forefront of social networking, I reconnected with long lost friends. At the same time, I put some of my photos on the site hoping that others would enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them. Thanks to their words of encouragement and the gentle nudging of my wife, here I am, offering my art to the world!
